No treatment is the same because everybody has a different body with a unique life story and experiences. Thus, I start with some questions about your past medical history, where you are now and your future health goals. The next step is an examination which may involve assessing your posture, evaluating muscle tone and performing mobility tests. Following the examination, we then have a diagnosis and can begin treatment. In case your symptoms require further investigation, I’m able to refer you for scans such as x-ray or ultrasound.
The treatment and techniques will vary based on your individual case, diagnosis, state of health and aims to achieve the best possible outcome. My treatment style is a combination of gentle mobilisations, myofascial work, low-force techniques, muscle release and cranial techniques. In my work I rarely use joint ‘cracking’ or ‘thrust’ techniques.
Follow up Consultations: Please allow up to 45 minutes for the follow up consultation.
Depending on the complexity of your problem further treatments might be necessary and numbers will vary individually. Follow up consultations are shorter as we have already discussed your medical history and established a working diagnosis. During a follow up consultation, we have a brief review of your progress and current symptoms since the first treatment. Next, we re-examine the relevant area to measure changes which will also guide which areas of the body need further help to recover. Treatment can then commence to address the problem and underlying causes.
What to wear: It’s a good idea to wear clothing that you feel comfortable to move in. In order to better assess certain areas such as your spine I might ask you to remove some clothing or roll up your shirt. I’ll always ask for your permission and if there is anything you don’t like please let me know. I’ll always respect your decision.
